Excitement in the Air: Highlights from the Grade 5/6 Camp at Log Cabin Camp, Ballarat
On Monday morning the air was charged with excitement as the Grade 5/6 students climbed onto the buses, ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure at Log Cabin Camp, Ballarat. With a range of exhilarating activities lined up, the students were in for an action-packed experience!
One of the standout features of the camp was the heart-pounding Duel Zipline. Suspended in the treetops, students soared through the air, feeling the rush of adrenaline as they took in the views of the surrounding landscape and raced their friends to the finish. The thrill of gliding through the air left everyone craving for more, making the zipline a definite favourite among the campers.
Meanwhile, teamwork and strategy were put to the test as students worked together to conquer the Initiatives Course, complete the Orienteering activity and carefully stack milk crates to impressive heights.
For those with a steady hand and keen eye, the archery range provided an opportunity to test their skills. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students learnt how to hold the bow and launch the arrow correctly. While many initial shots hit the ground, students learnt the importance of persistence, as their skills improved and their arrows began to hit the target.
The most adrenaline-pumping activity however was without doubt the Leap of Faith. With hearts pounding and palms sweating, students conquered their fears and as they climbed a 10m ladder up to the platform in the sky. With encouraging cheers from their teammates below, students then found their inner strength as they took the leap of faith off the platform and plunged into the unknown!
On the final day of camp the excitement continued with a trip to Sovereign Hill, where history came to life. Exploring the bustling streets of an 1850s gold rush town, students immersed themselves in the sights and sounds of yesteryears, gaining insight into Australia's rich heritage. From panning for gold to exploring the olden days shops, the trip to Sovereign Hill was a fitting conclusion to an unforgettable camp experience, leaving memories that would last a lifetime.
