Senior Strings Performance

Last week the Senior String Ensemble performed at the subject selection and information evening. They gave a fantastic and varied performance to the passing crowds, reminding them that instrumental music is another subject any students can take at any year level. A big thank you to the senior string students and their teachers Ally and Rosemary for giving up time for this important event.

What music makes you feel good?

Recently ABC classic FM ran a survey to find the music which makes us feel good. With Winter setting in, we have more time indoors to listen to music and play it on our instrument. We sometimes need a bit more cheering up during the darker days. The Bairnsdale Secondary College Music Program would like to find out what music make us feel good. There is a sheet in the music centre where you can write down what music improves your mood, otherwise email Kim Green with your selection. Lists will be published in later newsletters.

Sale Eisteddfod

It is always exciting to see our music students involved in other musical events. Last week, Liam took part in the Sale Eisteddfod playing the piano. He achieved a second place for his own composition, and first place for both the piano solo 13 /14 years and solo grade 4/5. Congratulations Liam on this enormous achievement.

Liam can often be heard practicing the piano in the music centre in the morning before school. It is useful to remind music students that the music centre is open in the mornings and students are free to come in and practice.

East Gippsland Music Festival

Information should be coming up on Compass soon for the East Gippsland Music Festival. In the meantime, plan your trip to Orbost Community College on Thursday 27th June for the Gala Concert. Students will need to be there by 6:15pm for a 7:00pm start.
