Primary Inter-House Cross Country Carnival

On Friday, the 21st of June, our College hosted its annual Primary Cross Country Carnival on the new College Oval. The event was a fantastic display of athleticism, determination, and school spirit, featuring students from Pre-primary to Year 6.

The day was filled with outstanding individual performances, showcasing the hard work and dedication of our young athletes. It was heartwarming to see students cheering for their peers, embodying the true spirit of sportsmanship. The enthusiasm and encouragement from classmates and teachers alike created a supportive and exciting atmosphere.

Congratulations to all the participants for their effort and perseverance.

Below are the Champion and Runner up Champion students for the day. Early next term we will announce the House results and present the Year 3 to 6 students with their medals.

John Bosco Challenge

Last week, we sent a group of netball and soccer players to compete against our rivals at John Bosco College in Piara Waters. Our teams had been training diligently, and the excitement built as game day approached, knowing we were up against a school with a larger student pool to choose from.

A significant number of Year 10 students and some Year 9 girls represented Salvado Catholic College. Their performance was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see many parents in attendance, cheering on their children. Our boys triumphed in soccer with a 5-3 victory, while our girls started their netball game with great enthusiasm, leading the first quarter by four goals. Despite their strong start, they were narrowly defeated, with Bosco winning 21-16. The interest in netball was so high that we could have fielded two teams.

According to our netball Coach Ms. York and Team Manager Mr. Meynell, the girls faced a tough game. A standout moment occurred at halftime when Isabella Tafua and Captain Susan Nelson invited their opponents to share some watermelon, oranges, and sweets. This act of kindness was a lovely gesture, demonstrating sportsmanship and camaraderie.

On arrival, our boys quickly realised it would be a challenging game. The Year 10 boys looked very professional in their soccer uniforms and were eager to start. With the blow of the whistle, the game commenced, and our team played a tough but fair brand of soccer, ultimately securing a well-deserved win. Captain George New rallied the boys after Bosco scored in the second half to ensure the win.

We were also delighted to have Mr. Johns, Mr. Fiegert, and Mr. Old join us to support the students. Mr. Old’s son Billy stole the show, particularly among the netballers! The presence of so many parents at our first after-school game highlighted the pride they have in their children’s efforts.

A huge thank you to Mr. Meynell and Ms. York for helping our netballers. It was fantastic to witness our students proudly representing Salvado Catholic College. We look forward to the return game, anticipated to occur around Week 5 of next term.
