PRINCIPAL UPDATE

As mentioned last week Peter Blackall has retired and finished up after 33 years teaching and 23 years at Chilwell.

So many students would have fond memories that have been taught by Pete over the years, in a multitude of subjects.

We will be asking students to contribute to a book we will complete for him. We thank Pete for his contribution to education and wish him all the very best in his next exciting chapter.

Last Monday Sarah, Lenny, Jackson, Max, Landon, Zara, Zach, Zara, Angus and Olive competed in the Division Cross Country. A super effort by all against some extremely talented athletes.

Well done to all for their participation and congratulations to Landon, Angus, Lenny, Max, and Olive who are off to Melbourne in June, the Western Metro Region, for the next stage in this event.

TOASTIE TRUCK SUCCESS – Thank you to our parent volunteers along with the Fundraising committee for the making and delivery of 340 delicious toasties last Friday.  Money raised will go toward additional sports uniforms.

It was lovely to see so many parents, grandparents and friends joining us for the Open Morning last Friday.  The students love to showcase their learning, and it was a wonderful opportunity for people to see classrooms in action.  It was a shame the weather did not hold out for assembly, but it was great that selected students were able to share about their learning with our assembly that was over the loudspeaker.

Next week is Reconciliation Week.  Deb Fisher and Meegan Baker have been undertaking great learnings in Visual Art and Performing Arts with the students.

In Visual Art they have been experimenting with Sculpture, Ceramics and Construction.  In Performing Arts, students are responding to the storytelling of First Nations artists from the Tiwi Islands to the remote Central and Western deserts.  All year levels are exploring a range of texts that fosters knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.

Kind regards,

Meg
