Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 5

Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,

It is hard to believe that we are already in the middle of Term 2.

Winter Months and Illness

As winter is approaching, we have been advised that viruses such as Covid, RSV and Influenza A & B are on the rise.  Please ensure that if your child is showing symptoms of such viruses including, headache, cold symptoms, coughing, fever, chills, vomiting and diarrhea that you test and stay home until symptoms have ceased.  Also, with cases of Gastroenteritis such as vomiting, and diarrhea students are advised to not return to school for 48 hours after symptoms have ceased.  As we spend more time inside in winter and these viruses are very contagious, we would like to keep the spread to a minimum.

Over & Above Awards

We are starting a new rewards system, and your child may have mentioned a rewards chart in their classroom.  Each child has received a rewards chart and each Over and Above they receive will be acknowledged with a sticker on their chart.  At each interval of 10 stickers a reward will be received.  At 10 stickers they will choose a surprise from the "Grab Box".  At 20 stickers they will be involved in a visit to the park (K-2) or a sports morning at the oval (3-6).  At 30 stickers it will be a canteen voucher for a free lunch and at 40 stickers it will be lunch or milkshake or gelato at the Cafe with myself.  It is great to see so many children embracing this new initiative and Mrs Abbott and I are getting very sore hands writing out all of these awards.  Well done everyone and keep up the good work.

Responsible Pet Program

Today we had a visit from Annette and Talia the Dachshund from The Responsible Pet Program to talk to our K/1/2 students about being a responsible pet owner and how to interact with dogs.

Crunch & Sip

I am so glad to see all children enjoying fruit and vegetables at Crunch & Sip each morning. It is very important to remind our children on the importance of healthy eating to fuel their bodies and keep them healthy.

Road Safety

We have noted that some children are not obeying the road rules when walking and riding their bikes or scooters to and from school.  We have also noted that some children are not wearing their helmets whilst on bikes and scooters.  Please ensure you talk to your child about road safety and how important it is to obey these rules whilst walking or riding to and from school.

Payments for School Camps

The next instalment for payments on excursions is now due.  Payments can be made through the sentral portal or cash can be paid at the school office.

Reconciliation Week

This week is Reconciliation Week.  The theme for 2024 is "Now More Than Ever".  Staff will be addressing the importance of Reconciliation during their lessons this week.

Kind regards

Kathy Nott
