MacKillop Rugby League Trial

Nash C, Ryan C, Taio D, Mac M and Wade P represented Sydney Catholic Schools at the MacKillop Rugby League Trial in Canberra on Friday 10th May. The boys played against representative school teams from Wollongong, Parramatta, Canberra/Goulburn, and Wagga regions. We are very proud of you boys!

 

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Ryan C (Year 5) was selected in the MacKillop team. Ryan will now travel to St Mary’s to compete at the NSWPSSA Rugby League 11 Years Championship. We wish him all the best!

MacKillop Netball Trial

Emily U in Year 6 competed in the MacKillop Netball Trials held in Canberra. Emily demonstrated a high level of skill and talent in the games she played, and she earned a spot in the possibles and probables match. Emily was selected as a reserve shadow for the team. We have our fingers crossed that Emily will get to join the team when they play at the NSWPSSA Championships. Well done Emily!

Sydney Rugby Union Trial

On Tuesday 21st May, Nicholas H and Xavier H competed at the Sydney Rugby Union trial. The two Year 6 boys played various games, demonstrating their skills in their preferred positions. We await the results and wish the boys the best of luck in being chosen for the next level. 

Cross Country Primary Championships

The sun was shining at Sydney Motorsport Park for our Cross Country competitors. Students from Year 2-6 raced in the 2 km and 3 km course. Students from all conferences were competing on the day in their respective conference races. Congratulations to the students who placed in the top 10:

8/9 Years Girls: Indie M (3rd) and Evie T (7th)

10 Years Boys: Heny R (9th) and Hunter B (10th)

11 Years Boys: Archie C (4th) 

11 Years Girls: Alexis D (2nd) and Georgie E (10th)

12/13 Years Girls: Chelsea G (2nd)

It was a day full of healthy competitiveness and energy and lots of fun was had by all!

Year 6 Interschool Sport Soccer Round 2

Round 2 of the Year 6 Soccer Interschool Gala Day went ahead on Wednesday 15th May. The Level 1 and 2 boys and girls had the opportunity to play three games on the synthetic fields. Our school versed students from Engadine, Gymea and Como, and had a lot of fun! 

 

The Level 1 competition was held over two rounds. Teams earned points for each game and their totals from each round were combined to determine the schools that would progress to the next level of competition. Our Level 1 Boys team was undefeated in Round 2 and finished second overall. We would like to congratulate the Level 1 Girls team who were crowned champions and will now progress to the interconference competition. 

 

OLF Athletics Carnival

The OLF Athletics Carnival is on Friday 21st June at Sylvania Waters Athletics Track. This is a compulsory event for students in Years 3-6. Students in Year 2, turning 8 this calendar year who demonstrate a high level of skill and talent in Athletics are able to register for Competitive events only. 

 

There are two divisions on the day - Competitive and Grade. Competitive events are for students who wish to be considered for selection to compete at the next level of competition. These events require registration via this form. Registrations close Wednesday 12th June. No late entries will be accepted. 

 

If your child would like to race for fun and house points, Grade Events will be available on the day. These events don’t require registration.

 

Competitive Race Description

Individual Events (200m, 800m, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put)

Juniors: 8, 9 and 10 years

11 years: 11 years

Seniors: 12 and 13 years

 

Relays

Juniors: 8, 9 and 10 years

Seniors :11, 12 and 13 years

 

NOTE: 100m is raced separately per age group.

 

One competitor will progress for each event, with two competitors progressing for the 100m. 

 

The 1500m and discus events are not raced at our school carnival. Please provide evidence via email if your child wishes to be considered for selection. 

 

Sydney Catholic Schools Holiday Programs

Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) is providing a number of exciting opportunities for students to participate in the upcoming Term 2 holiday period.Registration for these programs close on Thursday 20 June. Further opportunities during the holiday period can be found on the SCS Sport website.
