Dear Families,
I hope that you and your families had a blessed and restful Easter break and are ready for the term ahead. There is no such thing as a quiet term anymore and this term will be just as busy as the last. It was wonderful to gather together for our Alleluia Liturgy on the first morning back and I thank those of you who joined us for doing so. It has been great to see more and more family members joining us for assemblies, Masses and liturgies this year and I strongly encourage more of you to do so. The children love having you there, as do the staff!
Whilst the students may only have returned yesterday, the staff were back and working hard on Monday. One of our Excellence in Education Services goals for 2026 is to develop a shared, consistent structure for Literacy and Maths from Foundation to Grade 6. We aim for our teachers to have confidence and clarity in articulating how and why we teach and plan literacy and maths the way we do at St Therese's. We spent Monday working on Cognitive Load and Explicit Teaching before delving into our maths planning. It was a great day but quite taxing on the brain!

Protecting Against Measles
Measles cases are rising in Victoria and whilst we, at St Therese's, have not been directly affected by this, there have been local transmission detected. Measles is a highly contagious viral infection that spreads easily through airborn droplets from coughing and sneezing. Measles symptoms may include:
fever
feeling unwell or tired
cough or runny nose
sore and red eyes (conjunctivitis)
diarrhoea (especially in young children)
red, blotchy, non-itchy rash that often starts on the face.
Families are advised to check their measles vaccination status, especially if planning to travel. This can be done through Medicare, the Australian Immunisation Register, personal health records or speaking with a GP. Families must seek medical care and testing if a child develops symptoms, especially a blotchy, red rash. Children should remain at home if they have symptoms, are being tested for or have been diagnosed with measles and notify the school accordingl
Enrolments 2027
Believe it or not, our enrolments for 2027 are now open. If you have a little person due to start school next year, our enrolment packs are ready. If you have friends or family members looking for a primary school, please encourage them to come and visit us. Whilst our open day has been and gone, families are most welcome to book a tour with me.
Canteen
Our upgrades are now complete and Mrs Beshara is in the process of moving out of the hall kitchen back into the canteen. Due to this, the canteen will be closed for Week 1 and will re-open on Wednesday 29th April.
Lunch orders were extremely popular last term and we are now reaching out to ask for some assistance. If any of you would be interested in volunteering to help out on a Monday or Wednesday, please complete the Google Form here. Please note, all volunteers are required to complete our Volunteer Induction process.
Kind Regards,
Felicity Broughton
