Philippians 4:6-7:
‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’
As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding term, we take a moment to pause and reflect on the world beyond our classrooms. Around the globe, we are reminded that peace is not something we can take for granted. Many communities continue to experience conflict, uncertainty, and hardship, and it is important that we help our students understand that even from our small corner of the world, we can be people who choose peace in our words and actions each day.
At this time, we are especially mindful of the conflicts currently affecting many parts of the world. Ongoing wars and tensions, including those in the Middle East and other regions, have resulted in the loss of life, displacement of families, and deep suffering for innocent people. Leaders across the world continue to search for ways to bring these conflicts to an end, but the impact on ordinary families, especially children is profound. As a school community, it is important that we speak with our students about these realities in age-appropriate ways, encouraging compassion, prayer, and understanding for those whose lives are touched by conflict. Recent fighting between nations in the Middle East has heightened global concern and caused widespread disruption and fear, reminding us just how fragile peace can be.
Recently, Pope Leo XIV has reminded the world that peace begins with each one of us. In his messages, he has urged leaders to end what he calls the “madness of war” and to protect civilians who are suffering in war-torn areas. He continues to call on nations to choose dialogue over violence and to remember that true peace is built through justice, compassion, and mutual respect. These messages are not only for world leaders, they are also for young people, reminding them that peace begins in everyday actions.
Throughout this term, we have spoken with our students about what peace looks like in their daily lives. Peace is shown when we include someone who feels left out, when we listen before reacting, and when we admit mistakes and work to make things right. In a world that can sometimes feel unsettled, our school community has the opportunity to be a place where peace is lived out in small but powerful ways each day.
As we move into the holiday break, I encourage our students and families to carry this message of peace into their homes and communities. May we take time to rest, reconnect with those we love, and remember that each of us has the power to make the world a more peaceful place - piece by piece, choice by choice. Let us return next term refreshed and ready to continue being people of peace in all that we do.
Learning Conversations
Thank you to our families for your time and commitment during our recent Learning Conversations over the past two weeks. These moments are so valuable in strengthening the partnership between home and school, allowing us to share insights, celebrate progress, and work together to support each student’s growth. When families and teachers communicate openly and regularly, students benefit from a consistent message of encouragement and support, helping them to feel confident and motivated in their learning.
It was wonderful to see the student voice at the centre of many of these conversations, with students proudly sharing their achievements, reflecting on their learning, and setting goals for the future. Celebrating successes, both big and small, builds confidence and reminds our students that their efforts matter. We are grateful for the strong partnerships we share with our families and look forward to continuing to work together to support each student to thrive and reach their full potential.

Enrolment for 2027
A reminder to families that enrolments for 2027 are now well underway, with places in Year 7 and Kindergarten filling quickly. We are experiencing strong interest in both entry points, and we encourage families who are considering enrolling siblings to secure a place as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
If you have friends or family who may be interested in joining our school community, we warmly encourage you to share this message with them. For all enrolment enquiries or to begin the application process, please contact Maree Van Galen, our Enrolment Officer, who will be happy to assist and guide families through the next steps.
Holiday Break
Finally, as we reach the end of term, I would like to wish all of our students, families, and staff a safe and restful holiday break. This time provides an important opportunity to pause, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones after a busy and productive term.
May the holidays be filled with moments of rest, laughter, and connection, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next term refreshed and ready for the learning and opportunities ahead.
