Wellbeing

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to jump on here to say a massive thank you for your support of your children and all the wellbeing initiatives we have at GPS.
HERRRBy’s got a few new tricks in 2026, and us teachers have been working hard to continue doing the best job possible at supporting student wellbeing.
One of the new tricks this year has been our expectation matrix, which is a great tool for making our expectations really clear at different times and linking them really explicitly to the school values. I personally think that the matrix, along with a big focus on wellbeing at the start of the year, has given us a great launching pad into 2026, and helped us to have a really settled start.
Thanks to everyone who has engaged with the articles I’ve been putting in the newsletter. There’s 3 articles out, one in Issue 2 that explains the expectation matrix further, and 2 articles in issue 3 about respectful relationships and how to support building resilience in your children.
We have an exciting Term 2 ahead with some great things in the pipeline. We’re in the process of planning a parent information session about digital wellbeing and supporting healthy habits and safety online so keep your eyes peeled for that. Shoutout to the digital wellbeing parent group for your thoughts, ideas and drive.
HERRRBy week this year will begin on 9th of June and will be all about celebrating all our tricks, so it has a big focus on disability and inclusion. Shoutout to the Embrace parent group for your help and support with this.
I’ve been busy at work with Chris Yianni and Noa Opat learning about supporting the mental health needs of our students, so that work is continuing as we learn how to best support and educate the community.
There’s so much more coming along, but thank you for being such a wonderful parent community. Make sure if you see me walking between the campuses you stop and say hi!
