Welcome back after the Easter break. I hope everyone enjoyed some quality time with family and friends, had the chance to relax, and is feeling refreshed and ready for a busy and rewarding Term 2. We’re looking forward to another term of learning, growth, and connection across our Echuca East school community.
School Photo Day yesterday was a great success and ran very smoothly. A sincere thank you to our School Captains, who showed excellent leadership supporting in the office while staff had their photos taken and assisting Jarrod (from MSP) with coordinating class photos throughout the day.

Our Year 6 students have now received their much-anticipated Grade 6 shirts. They look fantastic and really stand out, proudly representing Echuca East. It’s wonderful to see our Year 6s wearing them with such pride.

ANZAC Day will be observed this Saturday. Our School Captains will represent the school in the local march and attend the ceremony at the cenotaph. We are very proud of their commitment to honouring this important occasion.
A few important reminders:
Industrial Action: A half-day stop work action is scheduled for Tuesday 19 May. More information will be provided closer to the date regarding how this may impact classes.
A reminder that our Prep Information Session will be held next Wednesday 29 April at 6:00pm in the Arts Centre, with school tours available from 5:30pm. If you know any families with a child starting Prep next year who are still deciding on a school, we warmly encourage you to invite them along. All are very welcome - we’d love to showcase our school and what we have to offer.
Thank you to our families for your continued support during the current industrial action. It is important that we stand together in supporting this action. This is not only about achieving fair and competitive pay for Victorian teachers compared to other states, but also about addressing local workforce challenges. In our area, we are seeing teachers leave Echuca schools to work in nearby Moama, where they can earn significantly higher salaries for the same role. Your support helps us advocate for sustainable staffing and the best outcomes for our students.
Finally, a big congratulations to Archie Saunders, who represented our school in Melbourne at the swimming championships on Thursday. While Archie didn’t come home with a medal, he achieved a personal best and represented our school with pride. That is a fantastic accomplishment—well done, Archie, you are an outstanding athlete!

Wishing everyone a wonderful start to Term 2.
