Lake Mungo Excursion

31 March - 2 April, 2026

On Tuesday, students from Years 7-10 travelled to Lake Mungo National Park with Mrs Bray and Mrs Taylor to as part of their Geography and History units. The trip also allowed everyone to take a river walk in Balranald and visit a historic homestead. Play happened on some amazing playgrounds and visits to cultural significant sites were many. Mrs Bray was the master chef of the trip and made sure we were all well fed. On Wednesday night we ate at the Balranald Club.

This is what we thought…

  • Jaxon – Best part was the walking in the National Park at night knowing we were safe but free to roam. It would have been even better if we could have brought dirt bikes.

  • Garnet – It was just good.

  • Billy – The flies were annoying but it was cool that we could still see the remains of a fire that was ‘only’ 13 thousand years old.

  • Alleah – Rolling down the sand dune was great. It was pretty cool to see really old bones.

  • Laylah – It was gangster, even though I got winded rolling down the hill and got treed. It was great. The walls of China reminded me of the moon. I cooked!

  • Eli – Fun experience, good excursion, but HOT HOT HOT! I liked to learn about Aboriginal culture at Lake Mungo.

  • Charlie – It was sandy, rolling down the hill was fun.

  • Mrs Taylor – An amazing place that is worth a visit from everyone. The sky at night was beyond clear and the cultural tour was second to none. The next trip is already in the planning phase.

  • Mrs Bray – I just loved the vastness of the horizon and the history and culture.
