Parent Photography

Later this year, new privacy laws will take effect across Australia. As a Child Safe School, John Wollaston Anglican Community School remains committed to the highest standards of privacy, dignity and protection for every student and family.

We know school events are important moments, and we encourage families to capture these memories. However, we must also protect the privacy and safety of all students.

Photography and Video Guidelines

When attending school events, please follow these guidelines:

  • You may take photos or videos of your own child/ren.
  • Images posted online must include only your child/ren.
  • If another child appears, crop or blur their face before posting.
  • Photos and videos from school events are for personal use and should not be shared publicly without care.

These expectations help us support families who do not consent to their child’s image being shared online.

Thank you for helping us maintain a respectful, safe and supportive environment for every child and family at John Wollaston.

Mobile Device Policy Update

The School has updated its Mobile Device Policy, which took effect in Week 6. All students are required to keep their mobile phones in their lockers from 8:00am to 3:00pm, including recess and lunch. Phones are not to be carried on their person at any time during the school day.

This change supports student safety, wellbeing and learning, and aligns with approaches increasingly adopted by schools nationwide.

Students purchasing food at the Café will need to use a bank card or their SmartRider linked to FlexiSchools.

If students need to contact home during the day, they are asked to do so through Student Services. Parents wishing to contact their child during school hours are asked to contact the School directly.

We appreciate your support as we implement this important update. The full policy is available on the School website.

Medication

Important notice - Blister Packaging for Medication

Gallery Image

After review of our current practice regarding the administration of medication during extracurricular overnight activities such as Encounters, expeditions and camps, I wish to inform you of a change of process regarding student medication.

Effective immediately, all regular oral tablet medications required during overnight activities must be supplied to the School in a pharmacist-prepared Blister pack. The pack must be clearly labelled by the pharmacist with the student’s full name, medication name, dosage and administration times.

Medication supplied in original packaging, dosette boxes, unlabelled containers, or plastic bags will not be accepted.

These measures are designed to minimise risk and ensure that every student requiring medication is supported safely and responsibly while participating in school activities beyond the classroom, while also supporting staff through the implementation of a consistent, school-wide approach.

Further information will be sent to families prior to their child’s next overnight Encounter, expedition or camp.
