Celebrating 40 Years of Faithfulness

This year, King’s College celebrates 40 years as a Christian school in Warrnambool. What a remarkable milestone! Like the stories we see in Scripture, these 40 years represent not just time passed, but a testimony of God’s faithfulness, provision, and ongoing work in our community.

Our celebrations began last Saturday with a 40th Anniversary Carnival, which brought together nearly 1,000 people in what can only be described as a joyful, vibrant, and deeply meaningful day. It was a wonderful reminder of the strength and connection of our College community.

At Chapel last week Ps. Tim Smock from Gateway Church, reminded us that the number 40 carries deep spiritual significance. It is often associated with testing, preparation, and transformation, a season where God is at work, shaping His people for what comes next.

We see this pattern throughout the Bible. It rained for 40 days and nights in the time of Noah as God renewed the earth. Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai receiving the Law. The Israelites wandered for 40 years in the wilderness as God formed them into a nation. And before beginning His ministry, Jesus Christ fasted for 40 days in the wilderness, preparing for His mission.

Each of these moments reminds us that 40 is not just about endurance, it is about becoming. It marks a journey of faith, where God refines, strengthens, and prepares His people for His purposes.

There were so many special moments on Saturday. It was wonderful to recognise Kerry Snook’s 40 years of service to the College with a story in The Standard.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Amy Newton, Kate McNaughton and a team of parent volunteers who helped bring the Carnival to life. The Carnival committee, including Tom Rouse, Michael Tucker, Amy Newton and Kate McNaughton cast the vision and carried the weight of this significant event with dedication and excellence.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing past students return. There was a beautiful sense of nostalgia as stories were shared and memories revisited. Some marvelled at how far the College has come from humble beginnings of portable classrooms on a dirt paddock to the thriving College we see today. Others were deeply moved during moments of worship, reminded of the impact the College had on their lives, even those who did not come from a Christian background.

It was also encouraging to hear comments from visitors about our students, recognised for being respectful, polite, and a credit to the College. These moments speak to the heart of who we are and what we value.

As we reflect on 40 years, we do so with gratitude for what God has done, and with confidence in what He will continue to do. Just as in Scripture, seasons of 40 are not the end of the story; they are often the beginning of something new.

As we move forward, especially in this Easter season, may we be reminded of the ultimate work of transformation through the cross. May God continue to strengthen us, guide us, and use King’s College to shape lives for His glory.

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” - Psalm 126:3

Whiteboards for Uganda

Thank you to our staff and students for your generosity in supporting our recent Whiteboards for Uganda initiative. Through our Free Dress Day on the last day of Term, we raised $711.75, and a further $310 was raised at the 40th Anniversary Carnival through the sale of bubbles.

We are also deeply grateful to Deakin University Warrnambool for their generous donation of $1,000 toward this project.

In total, we have raised $2,021.75, which is enough to purchase 10 whiteboards for Ararat Christian Junior School in Uganda. Combined with the whiteboards provided last year, this means we will now be able to equip every classroom at the school with a whiteboard.

This is a wonderful example of our community living out faith in action - making a tangible difference in the learning environment of students in Uganda. Thank you again for your generosity and support.
