Remembrance Day 2025 – A Time for Reflection and Gratitude

Remembrance Day offers us a meaningful opportunity to pause and remember those who have given their lives in defence of the freedoms we enjoy today, particularly marking the end of World War I.

Our College Captains, Minh and Will, represented St Peter’s College with pride at the Cranbourne RSL service held at the cenotaph.

On campus, our community also observed the day with reverence. This solemn occasion brought the community together to honour the fallen, featuring historical reflections, the recitation of the Ode to the Fallen, the playing of the Last Post, and a shared prayer for lasting peace on earth.

Our Vocational Major (VM) students demonstrated the spirit of service and compassion by baking and decorating cookies, which they delivered to residents of the Botanic Ridge Retirement Village. During their visit, they shared conversations and laughter with our elderly friends, strengthening the special bond between our College and the local community.

Continuing their outreach, the VM students will return to the Retirement Village on Thursday to host a Christmas dinner for the residents. This thoughtful initiative not only celebrates the festive season but also provides an invaluable opportunity for our students to listen, learn, and appreciate the wisdom of older generations.

As a college, we are reminded that remembering the people and events of our past helps our young people cultivate gratitude and a deeper appreciation for the peace and opportunities we often take for granted.
