WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING! (2 of 2)

A BHCS Petting Zoo!
To celebrate World Animal Month, we were fortunate to have Myuna Farm Mobile Animal Ark to visit on Friday 14th November. Students in 3yo Kinder and all of Primary School visited in their classes and enjoyed time cuddling, feeding and relaxing with chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, guineapigs, lambs, geese and even a turtle!
Farmer Kathleen taught the students to be 'calm, quiet and gentle' when in the pen, reminding them that animals are similar to humans, can get scared by loud sudden noises and what signs to look for like wriggling or shaking indicate that they aren't comfortable.
Not wanting to miss out on the fun, a few of our Year 12 students snuck in after their VET Sport and Recreation exam for a cuddle too!
Go Tate! A Remarkable Achievement
By Simon Broecker (Sports Coordinator - Primary)
It is not very often I have had the pleasure of writing a news report item like this one. It was great excitement that one of BHCS 'very own' Tate S has been selected for the Victorian Schools Softball Team. It is a real honour to be selected in a Victorian Representative team and in most cases requires students to be selected through attending a number of trials and 'list cuts' which is the reality of making a Team VIC selection and having the opportunity to represent your State at a National Carnival.
Tate has been training in Sunshine on Sunday afternoons since selection for 3 hours with players from all over the state. The School Sports Australia softball tournament runs from the 17th-21st November at Blacktown International Sports Complex. All teams play two games per day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On the Wednesday the team is headed to the Zoo to participate in an education day and all players from across Australia spend the day together on an excursion and learning from each other.
Further to this amazing achievement Tate was announced as Co-Captain of the Team VIC team. As Bel (Mum) said "To be selected for representation was amazing, but this just goes to show what an awesome team mate and player he is. Tate was absolutely chuffed." On behalf of all of the BHCS community Tate we wish you all the best! Represent us well! Go Tate!
