Dear Skye Families,
We're pleased to share that for the second year running, our school has been placed in the 'Improving' category overall, indicating notable improvements across a range of learning and wellbeing measures. While there are clear areas for growth within some learning areas, our Wellbeing data was again a highlight—with the school moving into the 'High' category in both School Connectedness and Student Voice and Agency. This reflects the strong relationships and inclusive culture we continue to build together.
We're thrilled to announce that our school has partnered with The Fathering Project, a national initiative dedicated to improving the lives of children by inspiring and equipping dads and father-figures to be the best they can be.
Through this partnership, we'll be launching a Dads' Group here at school—a fun, inclusive space where fathers, stepdads, grandfathers, uncles, and father-figures can connect, share, and take part in simple school and community activities with their kids.
Research shows that children whose dads are positively engaged do better at school, have higher self-esteem, and make healthier life choices. This partnership helps us strengthen that connection.
Stay tuned for our first event—coming soon! To learn more, visit thefatheringproject.org
We'll have 25 classes next year (growing by 2), and we continue to fall within the DET averages for F–2 and 3–6. Average class sizes are shown in brackets:
We begin our Step Up Program for students in Years 1–6 on Tuesday 25 November and Wednesday 26 November, with two sessions designed to help them feel confident about moving into their next year level in 2026. Please note that the initial classes students are allocated for Step Up are not yet finalised. Additionally, all placement requests have now closed. Students will have the opportunity to meet their teacher and finalised class on the final transition day, scheduled for Tuesday 9 December.
A friendly reminder that Friday 21 November is a pupil-free day. This is a Professional Practice Day (PPD) for our teachers, dedicated to reflecting, innovating, and planning for future excellence in teaching and learning.
Thank you to the many grandparents who joined us for our recent Grandparents' Open Morning. We were thrilled with the huge turnout and loved seeing classrooms filled with smiling faces as grandparents participated in activities alongside their grandchildren. At Skye, we really value the important role that grandparents play in the development of our young people—offering wisdom, love, and connection across generations. It was great to celebrate those special relationships, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
Have a great fortnight!
Warm regards,
Tim
