As we send this newsletter, the Year 9 students and staff are returning from their annual Outdoor Education Camp. A four-day trip down the Murray River, paddling on rafts from camp to camp and foraging for food. It has been such an extraordinary experience for the students. Many thanks to all the staff who have redesigned this experience and supported the students throughout the whole camp.
The Year 9 camp has been the culmination of a term’s work as part of the Year 9 Program.
Year 9 is universally agreed by educational researchers as a time of significant change cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally. It is a time that students transition from dependence to interdependence, face challenges and uncertainty beyond their own ability to resolve and show unbelievable growth and development in their desired areas of interest and passion.
Research has shown that Year 9 students benefit from a stimulating, challenging and rewarding curriculum that caters for diversity in learning styles and abilities.
The Trinity Year 9 program will have an approach that recognises and rewards our students’ strengths, providing them with a supportive and nurturing learning environment where they can ‘take calculated risks’ knowing that guidance and support are always available.
Students are provided with learning opportunities that take them beyond the school boundaries on a regular basis, relating theoretical learning in the classroom to its relationship within the real world in which we live. Our students are to be given opportunities and responsibilities as community members, to interact as global citizens and make the world a better place for others less fortunate. They are treated as young adults but guided as developing teenagers in their abilities and decision making leading to independence.

This week’s Senior School Assembly recognised success in our Academic and Service Learning programs. Year 11 students were awarded their First in Course certificates, recognising the success that they had with the courses.

We wish them well with the commencement of the Year 12 studies.

A big thank you to Sam, Abi, and Toby for sharing their experiences from the recent Service Learning Trip to Cambodia. Their report offered valuable insight into the activities they took part in, the strong bonds formed over the two weeks, the communities they visited, and even some of the more unusual foods they got to try!
Service Learning continues to grow as an important aspect of our school culture. During the assembly, we also reflected on how service isn’t limited to overseas trips. It begins here - at home and at school. Even simple actions, like picking up a piece of litter, make a difference. We are proud to be part of a community where both students and staff value serving others as an essential part of life.
Over the next few newsletters, we’ll be shining a spotlight on our 2026 Captains.
To kick things off, say hello to...
Our College Captains – Sammi and Rylan!
Sammi has been part of the Trinity community since Year 5. When she’s not in class, you’ll most likely find her on the netball court. In Year 12, she’ll be studying Business Studies, Health and Movement Science, Maths, and English, along with completing an AIN TAFE course. After school, Sammi plans to take a gap year to travel before continuing on to university.
Rylan joined Trinity in Year 10 and brings his love of sport to school life – especially basketball and AFL. He’s also a keen traveller when holidays roll around.
His Year 12 subjects include Health and Movement Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, and English. After school, Rylan hopes to build a future in the sporting world and see more of the globe along the way.

Our 2026 Performing Arts Captains, Pradip and Skye!
Pradip joined Trinity in Year 8 and brings his creativity to everything he does. Outside the classroom, he’s often working, playing the keyboard, singing, writing songs, or hanging out with friends. For Year 12, he’s taking on English, Maths, Physics, Drama, Food Technology, and Beginner Japanese. After school, Pradip hopes to study Musical Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts, with a little travel squeezed in there too.
Skye started at Trinity in Kindergarten and has been dancing her way through school life ever since. She’s a talented performer and enjoys baking in her spare time. In Year 12, Skye will be studying English, Maths, Chemistry, Health and Movement Science, Dance, and Business Studies. After graduation, her plan is to continue studying contemporary dance, take a gap year to travel, and then pursue Occupational Therapy at university.

Our Sports Captains – Sofia and Banjo!
Sofia joined Trinity in Year 8 and is a dedicated sportswoman, juggling both water polo and netball in her free time. In Year 12, she’s studying Biology, Health and Movement Science, Food Technology, Business Studies, Advanced English, and Maths. After school, Sofia plans to combine her love of sport and science by studying Biomedical Sciences at university.
Banjo has been part of the Trinity community since Kinder and has always had a passion for sport. He plays AFL, competes in water polo at school and rep levels, and has even found time for a bit of basketball. For Year 12, Banjo is studying Physics, Engineering, Business, Maths, and English. After school, he’s planning to head up the coast or overseas for university – with plenty of travel along the way.

Our Community & Service, Academic, and Anglican Identity leaders – Abi, Evie, and Sam!
Abi joined Trinity in Year 7 and is a true all-rounder. She’s into athletics, skiing, working, and never says no to a travel adventure. In Year 12, she’s studying Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, and Geography. After school, Abi plans a gap year teaching skiing in Japan, before heading to university to study science.
Evie also started at Trinity in Year 7 and balances her studies with basketball and horse riding. For Year 12, she’s tackling English Extension 1 & 2, English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Business Studies. Evie hopes to study Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, with dreams of continuing her studies overseas.
Sam joined Trinity in Year 7 and loves keeping active – whether it’s soccer, tennis, surfing, running, or coaching. In Year 12, he’s studying Biology, Chemistry, Business, and Health & Movement Science. After school, Sam hopes to pursue Physiotherapy or Dentistry at university.

In the next newsletter, we will introduce our House Captains.
If you happened to tune in to either WIN or Prime news last week, you would have seen one of our Year 12 students - Laura Hovar!
Laura has been named the 2025 recipient of the Sister Scholastica Scholarship, proudly offered by Mercy Connect. This annual scholarship honours Sr Schol’s legacy by supporting a female student who shows outstanding potential to thrive at school - providing financial assistance to help her reach her full potential and make the most of every opportunity.
We were delighted to welcome Caroline, Jessie, Rosie, and Harry from Mercy Connect to Trinity today to present Laura with her scholarship certificate. Congratulations Laura!
