What's Happening Week 6
What's Happening Week 7
A short week, so not much to report on this week, so we wanted to tell you about our camp experience.
The Year Sixes went on a two-night trip to the camp, and we would like to tell you a bit about our wonderful adventure!
Here are just a few photos:

DAY 1
After a 1 hour and 30 minute drive to The Ranch. We found out who was in our cabins and then the staff gave a presentation about The Ranch. They talked about our well-being goal, which was resilience and how we can use it throughout our camp experience. Then we got into our groups for the activities. My group did the orienteering, where we got a sheet of paper and had to run around the campsite to find answers to different questions. Then we had lunch and headed to our 2nd activity, which was archery. We were able to use real bows and arrows. After afternoon tea, we had free time where we were able to set up our cabins our play sports on the courts. We had dinner and then we had our night walk where we learnt a lot of interesting facts and saw lots of beautiful sceneries like the sunset and how the ranch looks at night. We headed back to the cabins for a good night's sleep after a long day.
DAY 2
In the morning, we woke up and got ready for the day. We could not wait to start the activities. After breakfast, we got into our groups and headed off to four of our activities for the day. First, my group had an initiative course where we had to work as a team to get through different obstacles. Then we had Morning tea and our second activity, which was the giant swing, where we got to go 18metres high. It was really fun. Then we had the flying fox, where we had to walk all the way up a big hill in a harness, where we were strapped to a wire, and we zoomed down to the end. The course was really long, about 272 metres long. Then we had lunch and afternoon tea before our last activity. We had horse riding where we were assigned horses by a lady based on our height and confidence. After we learnt how to ride the horses, we went on a 45-minute ride across the ranch before returning. Then we had free time, and then dinner. We had a campfire where we roasted marshmallows and then changed into our PJs and headed over to the rec room to watch a movie before bed. It was a really tiring and packed adventurous day, and we all enjoyed it. So glad we stayed home on Thursday to recover.
DAY 3 ( Imogen )
After a night's rest, we woke up and packed our rooms up and put everything into our suitcases. Then we got dressed and headed down to the chapel for breakfast. We had toast, pancakes and cereal. Then we had our first activity for the day. My group went rock climbing, and most of my group made it to the top! Then it was time for lunch. We had burgers along with a chocolate tart and watermelon. After we had finished, it was time to say goodbye and head onto the bus. After another 1 hour and 30-minute bus ride, we made it to school safe and happy. Thank you to the teachers and other staff for a lovely camp experience, and we hope next year's sixes enjoy the Ranch just as much as we did!
At the end of camp, one student was awarded “The Rancher Award”, and because a lot of the camp was focused on resilience, this award was given to Alex Hale as he demonstrated a lot of resilience while at camp. Congratulations Alex.

Remember to keep entering your pieces for the writing competition and make sure that all of your pieces do not exceed 500 words. Please put your name and class on it and give it to Mrs Debra at the office. So far, we have 2 pieces of amazing work, and we hope to add more to the collection. Remember, you can hand in a poem, short story, script or song lyrics. Remember that the winners include 1st, 2nd and 3rd and all of them get a prize. Only seniors are allowed to enter the competition. We hope you enjoy it! It is due on the 12th of November next week, on Wednesday, and then the winner will be announced at Friday's assembly.

We hope all the teachers enjoyed the badges and the stickers we gave to them to acknowledge how grateful we are to have them. Learning will be tricky, if it were not for the teachers who make learning easier than it seems. On World Teachers Day we have a true understanding that teachers are here to help.
Fun Fact: World Teachers Day is on October 5th because it was on this date in 1966 when a significant step was made for teachers in 1966. However, in Australia this year, we celebrated this day on October the 31st.
A few weeks ago, the Headstart program for the 2026 preps started. The parents have had to sit through presentations, and the 2026 prep students were able to visit our school, work with a range of staff, visit the library and borrow one book to take home.
The headstart program helps the new preps familiarise themselves with the school so that they won't be overwhelmed for the next year. The children would participate in a 1.5-hour session with a teacher where they did activities, read books and got to know their peers. Next week, we, the School Captains, will present the school rules and expectations to the parents. The Justice Leaders will also present some information to the parents. We are all excited to have this opportunity to be involved.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
See you all on Monday, looking forward to pizza day on Tuesday!
