Principal's Report

Art Show
There’s certainly lots of excitement in the air as we edge closer to our Annual Art Show. For families who are new to Preston PS this year, the Art Show is the highlight of our calendar.
While the artwork is the main feature of the Art Show, we also have performances from our three choirs and Grade 6 band.
Every child has selected their favourite piece of art from their 2025 folio which will be displayed.
Our amazing art teachers, Mavra Kotsabouikis and Edwina Atkins, are busy preparing the pieces which will be on display. Next week they will start the huge process of setting up the display. They have very high standards and want to ensure they display the art to best showcase the talents of our students.
The Art Show also has food that families can purchase, including a sausage sizzle, drinks and the regular favourites, popcorn and fairy floss, which is always a big hit with the children. We are also having a gelati van on site.
We all have our fingers crossed that the weather will improve next week and the sun will be shining.
We hope lots of families come along and appreciate our spectacular art exhibition and enjoy what is always a great school community event. Remember EVERY student will have a piece of artwork on display.
We Urgently Need Your Help!
We need parents to help us make the Art Show a successful community event. We have a roster that requires support from parents and although we currently have a number of parents who have signed up, we still need more. Please sign up now! Follow the link below to the roster.
Uniform
We currently have a number of students who are constantly not adhering to the Student Dress Code Policy.
We have girls who are wearing makeup, inappropriate jewellery, and long fake nails to school. None of these items are permitted.
We also have students who are wearing black or white long sleeve tops under their polo tops, this is also not permitted.
If a child wants to wear a long-sleeved top under their polo, it must be school colours.
Our Student Dress Code Policy is on the School website. Dress Code
School Starting Time
Parents, please remember that school starts at 9.00 am sharp and we expect that all children should be in their classroom ready to learn at 9.00 am.
The school gates open at 8.45am and unless children are in the Before Care program they should not arrive at school prior.
We currently have a number of children who are arriving before 8.45 am and are waiting for the gates to open.
Please remember that they are not supervised when outside the gates.
Swimming
The swimming program for the Grades 2-4 students finished last week. It takes a large amount of time out of the usual program during the fortnight, however the benefit of having an intensive lesson block proves to be beneficial for the students.
Regards,
Janet Paterson,
Principal.
