The Science Talent Search is a highly successful state-wide science competition. It is based around Victorian Curriculum principles, encouraging students to pursue creative, open-ended projects and hone their science inquiry skills.  We invite all students from Grade 1 to 6 to participate in the Science Talent Search if they are interested. If your child would like to participate in the competition, they can collect some information from me or you can see this on Compass. Application forms are due by the end of Term One, with finished projects due by the end of Term Two.

Prep - In Term One, students are focusing on biological sciences - the study of living things. Over the last two weeks, they have learned about what  plants need to survive (air, water, soil, space and sunlight). 

Year 1/2s - In Term One, students are focusing on Earth and space sciences. Over the last two weeks, they have learned about how the moon 'lights up' in our sky by reflecting sunlight. Students have identified the different phases of the moon and discussed different stars they may see in our night sky.

Year 3/4s - In Term One, students are focusing on Earth and space sciences. They are focusing on how water is important to Earth. Over the last two weeks, students have learned about climate and how this relates to weather patterns over a long period of time. They have explored different climate zones to identify how their weather is similar and different.

Year 5/6s - In Term One, students are focusing on Earth and space sciences. They are focusing on how Earth fits and interacts with our Solar System. Over the last two weeks, students have learned about our moon and its different phases. Students have observed and documented the moon over a month to identify the changing phases.
