ISP Student Leadership
As the new school year begins, we are excited to introduce our International Student
Captains! Our Captains take on important leadership roles within the school, supporting new students, representing the ISP cohort, and helping to create a welcoming and inclusive community. They also have the exciting opportunity to lead events and participate in whole school leadership conferences, sharing ideas and developing their skills alongside student leaders from other schools.
Here’s a snapshot of our IS Captains:
“Hi everyone, I’m one of the IS Captains this year. Being an IS Captain means a lot to me; I see this role as a chance to help international students feel supported while to be a bridge between international students and local students. I believe everyone has something valuable to share, and small interactions can make a big difference in helping our school feel more united. Outside of school, I enjoy listening to music. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone this year and contributing to a positive, welcoming school environment.”

“Hi guys, my name is Lily. I was born and raised in Vietnam and later moved to Australia to continue my studies. This journey has been a big change in my life. Starting life in a new country was challenging at first, especially because of the language barrier. However, this experience has helped me become more independent and confident, and it has pushed me to do things I never thought I could do when I was still in Vietnam. Over time, I have grown more familiar with life in Australia and have become very grateful for the opportunities I have been given.
I am currently an International Student Captain, and I have the honour of representing international students and supporting my peers. I applied for this role because I received a lot of help and encouragement from senior students when I first arrived. Now, I hope to pass on that kindness and support to others who are starting their own journey.
In my free time, I enjoy drawing, listening to music, and trying different kinds of food. Each month, I try to spend at least one day going to a park to draw while listening to music. This is how I relax after school and refresh my mind. Travelling and discovering new places is another interest of mine, as it allows me to learn more about different cultures and brings me closer to my dream of trying food from all around the world.
An interesting fact about me is that I enjoy solving difficult maths problems for fun and often see them as puzzles rather than homework. After solving them, I feel very proud and motivated, as if I have taken one more step towards my future success.”

“Hello everyone ! I am Michael Pham from ISP leadership. My background is Vietnamese and I came to Australia in early 2024. I already had a chance to visit Australia when I was 8 and at that time I decided to come, live and study here. Communicating, connecting and listening are my strong abilities so This role means I am going to guide the team and the bridge connecting all the team members. Guitar and Volleyball are my favourites, and I've played them for 3 years. I love comics, films especially manga and anime.”

“Hello, I an Ziyou from Chengdu, China. I like studying in Australia very much. Being an IS captain is a good opportunity to learn more about the school and the community, and to help others. I like aviation and tourism. I have flown more than 210,000 kilometres as passenger. I'm also in the process of pilot training.”
- Ziyou Yan.
“I am originally from China and have been studying in Australia for the past six months. As a member of the IS Captains, I see my role not as a privilege, but as a responsibility to help students and the school communicate more effectively. My interests include music, figure skating, and horse riding, which help me stay creative, disciplined, and balanced.”

Lunar New Year Celebration
Our Term 1 Welcome and Celebration Gathering was a wonderful way to reconnect as a community after the holidays and to welcome new members. Students came together to celebrate Lunar New Year and share in the festive spirit. We also celebrated birthdays from January to April. The event warmly welcomed new members to the IS family and gave everyone the chance to reconnect and make new friends.
On 17/2, we extended the Lunar New Year festival spirit to staff with a morning tea, celebrating together and acknowledging the diversity of our school community.
We look forward to a year with more opportunities to celebrate our diverse and vibrant community together.
