Friends of Northcote: TalkFest 2026 NEXT WEEK!!! 

The Friends of Northcote committee invite all members of the NHS community to our first event for 2026, the annual Talkfest literary evening, taking place on Thursday 12 March, at 6.30pm in the NHS Theatre. 

The theme for 2026 is The Art of Difficult Conversations. 

Polite disagreement seems like an ancient art. How do we discuss tricky topics in the modern age and is writing about them easier than talking about them? Meet three writers who don’t shy away from controversial topics, and find out how they process, publish and promote their dangerous ideas. 

Our incredible line up of authors includes Sofie Laguna, Maxine Beneba Clarke and Claire Coleman, with facilitator Ruth Clare. Find out more about our panel on CompassTix.

Book pack silent auction is back! We are pleased to announce our popular TalkFest silent action, with three wonderful book packs donated by HardieGrant Publishing, Ultimo Press and Black Inc Books, up for grabs to the lucky winners on the night! 

Friends of Northcote events are an opportunity for NHS families to meet each other, or catch up with existing friends, while support the NHS Thrive fund. All fund raised from our events go towards initiatives at school to support our students.
