Year 9/10 girls cricket

On Thursday the 12th of February, our cricket team made their way to the pitch with high hopes which were met because although we lost the only game we played, we had a blast. We lost the toss, but they chose to bat first which worked out for us anyway, so it was all good. They got a lot of runs but shout out to everyone who got a wicket. Then it was our time to shine. We did amazingly well but couldn't match their run number. At the end, we got to go home early and we had a day off school so it was a win.

Year 9/10 Boys / Mixed Cricket Feb 12

The intermediate boys cricket had a great day out. Unfortunately we didn’t come away with a win overall but that didn’t stop us having plenty of highlights. With strong bowling being a staple throughout the day, there was great run outs, catches and bails flying from the opposition creases. Our batting held strong with boundary’s being hard to come by for all teams that day, we showed great coordination through our batting partnerships to maximise runs.  Unfortunately in the last game NHS fell just short and won’t progress onto the next round. The year 9s apart of this team are already ready for their shot at redemption next year and for the year 10s they are eager for the challenge of senior cricket.

Senior  Divisional Cricket - played 17/2/26 at Donath Reserve

In our first game our team of Seniors were competitive against Preston who made 90 runs. We came close but only managed 76 runs from our 10 overs. In our final match against Thornbury we gave everyone a bowl and students who didn’t bat in the first game batted in game two. This gave us little chance of winning but gave everyone a chance to improve their batting and bowling skills. A big thank you to Antony Joseph of Year 11 who rotated our players so everyone got a chance to bowl and bat.

Senior Boys / Mixed  Divisional Tennis - played 23/2/26 at Oak Park

Our 6 Senior boys/ mixed started the day with three easy wins against St John’s, Preston and Thornbury. In the final against Lalor we were very competitive but finished with only two wins from the four single and two double matches. All of our students fought hard, socialised, communicated with their opponents and had a very enjoyable day.

Yr 7 Division Baseball

On the 23rd of February, the Year 7 inter-school baseball team travelled to Mill Park to take on Preston. Preston came out strong, scoring 2 runs in the first inning, but we responded quickly with 4 runs of our own. In the second inning, star pitcher Jasper Tennant threw a no-hitter, completely shutting Preston down and swinging the momentum our way.

From there, it was all us. Great hitting, smart base running and solid fielding helped extend the lead, and the team worked brilliantly together right through to the final out.

The game finished with a convincing 11–4 win to us.

On the 24th of February, 19 year 9 and 10 girls went to Reservoir Community Sport centre to play in the Intermediate division volleyball. Both teams had an amazing day, practicing between games and cheering on each other, overall, just having fun. The A team went undefeated the entire day, progressing to regionals after a long, hard battle against Lalor, and the B team won one of their games! Thank you to Luci for being the A team's coach at the last minute and thank you to everyone who participated and helped secure the wins.
