House Sport
It has been a busy start to the year in terms of House Sport, with students participating in weekly sport activities as well as competing in a several House Sport carnivals.
At Mazenod, sport is designed to be inclusive and cater for a range of the student's interests to assist them to develop their sense of physical wellbeing. Students are encouraged to create healthy habits that involve engaging in regular physical activity. Weekly sport activities students can participate in include badminton, basketball, golf, table tennis, tennis, boxing and indoor soccer.
The House Sport Carnival series involves several championship events during the year in which the students represent their house and compete for points. The points are totalled, and a winning house is crowned for that event. After the completion of the series points are calculated from all the events and the winning house is awarded the Fr Sherman Champion House trophy at the final college assembly.

The day was filled with plenty of colour, house spirit and enthusiasm amongst the participants.
There were many outstanding performances of the day, and all students should be congratulated on their attitude and participation on the day.

The eighth instalment of the Mazenod Gift, which included each of the year level winners of the 100m event, was a close affair with Year 11 student Gavin becoming the first student to defend their title taking home the honours ahead of Year 12 student Aaron in a photo finish.
Competition was fierce and it was tight between all the Houses for most of the day.
In the end it was close, but Chisholm were able to defend their win in 2025 and complete a hat trick of titles.
An incredible feat, considering they finished in last position in 2023 and have now won three titles in a row.
They become the sixth house to win, 3 or more titles in a row after:


Charlebois (1981-1983), (2009-2014)
Gerard (1984-1986), (2015-2020)
Grandin (1981-1991)
Cebula (1997-1999)
MacKillop (2002-2004)

During Open Day, the second annual Senior House Volleyball Championship was held in the Provence.
It was great to see House spirit on full display as the eight houses competed in a round robin format, followed by a final series.
There was plenty of colour, skill, and volleyball talent on display.
All students showed great respect and endeavour across the day and should be commended on the way they participated in the tournament.
Congratulations to Gerard who defeated Cebula in the Grand Final to take out the trophy, with Luke – Year 12 – awarded the Grand Final MVP.

The Mazenod House swimming carnival was held at the Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre. There was plenty of anticipation leading up to the day regarding whether Charlebois could go back-to-back for the first time since 1982.
The day was filled with plenty of colour, house spirit and enthusiasm amongst the participants.


There were many outstanding performances of the day, and all students should be congratulated on their attitude and participation on the day.
Competition was fierce and it was tight between all the Houses for most of the day. In the end, Charlebois was far too strong streaking away to win the title from Albini, with Gerard in third place.

Javian was the inaugural winner of the Mazenod Splash, which pitted the fastest freestyle swimmers against one another, from Year 7, 8, 9 & Senior Year Levels. The swim team used the event as preparation for the ACC swimming carnival, which was held later in the term.
The next carnival as part of the House Sport Championship series will be the House Volleyball (Junior), Damian Schumann Shield which will take place on Monday 4th May.
