Principal Report

Dear Families,
What a sensational day we had at the sports. The weather was fantastic and our students did an amazing job on the day. I had the privilege of being with our Year 6 Boys and their support and encouragement of each other, and friendly rivalry was wonderful to see. I would like to extend a huge thank you to all staff, parents/carers and volunteers who helped out on the day. We couldn’t have done it without you. We would like to thank Emma Remilton for her work in preparing the students for the day, and all the organisation that went on behind the scenes to make the event a success. Thank you, Emma.
School Council
The nominations for School Council closed on Monday. We were very pleased to have 4 nominations for the 3 parent positions. As we had vacancies in our Community Positions, we have been able to offer all four parents a position on School Council without going to an election. We would like to welcome our newest School Council members, Matthew Wilson, Jessica Cadwallader and Sarah Milway. I would also like to welcome returning member, parent member Kamuda Simpson. We also have a new staff member, Sarah Schroen, coming onto the council and a returning staff member, Kelly Kosloff.
With our new members included, we would like to welcome our School Council for 2026:
Chloe Ye, Leith Thomas, Steven Rothberg, Meredith Robinson, Matthew Wilson, Jessica Cadwallader, Sarah Milway, Kamuda Simpson, Sarah Schroen, Kelly Kosloff and Kylie Watson.
We have three retiring members of School Council who we would like to thank for their time and dedication they have given to the Ballarat Primary School - (Dana Street) school council. We would like to thank Charlotte King, Brooke Sands and Kellie Healy. Your work has been appreciated by our whole school community, thank you.
NAPLAN
Next week, our Year 3 and Year 5 students will be sitting the NAPLAN assessments for 2026. The students will complete assessments for writing, reading, numeracy, spelling, grammar and punctuation. We wish our students the best and know that they will all do their very best.
City of Ballarat - Think Tank
For those who were at assembly on Friday, you may have noticed that our Year 6 Leaders were missing. They were attending the launch for the City of Ballarat Think Tank program. The Kids Think Tank is a program that explores how local government works, understands the principles of democracy, and builds advocacy and leadership skills of the students. The Think Tank also provides opportunities for the adults as they gain a fresh perspective of local issues. We can’t wait to hear from our leaders as the program progresses.
We hope all of our families have a wonderful long weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school and refreshed on Tuesday.
Have a wonderful week,
Helen
