Guyra Show

On Friday, 20th February, a group of excited students attended the Guyra show. Students tried their hand at junior judging, where they were asked to judge the quality of the provided meat sheep, fleece and cattle. Students chosen to speak were tasked with justifying their selection, and we had quite a few resulting winners! All students spoke with confidence and did themselves (and us) very proud.
Winners:
- Tom Ward - 2nd (Fleece - junior class)
- Thomas Faint - 3rd (Fleece - junior class)
- Amber Press and Lilly Person - Joint 1st (Fleece - senior class)
- Lucy Kelly - 2nd (Meat sheep - junior class)
- Lilly Person - 1st (Meat sheep - senior class)
- Ollie Starr - 2nd (Meat sheep - senior class)
- Dom Miller - 3rd (Meat sheep - senior class)
- Charlotte Haycock - 4th (Meat sheep - senior class)
- Baxter Clark - commendation (Cattle - junior class)
Harrison Faint - commendation (Cattle - junior class)
Several students also had a go in the paraders class on Friday afternoon - they have been diligently attending lunchtime sessions to work on their cattle handling skills.
And though we were up against some very experienced hands and didn't have any wins in this class, we are still very proud of their efforts.
On Saturday, our paraders helped to achieve wins in the Devon classes with Not-A-Lot Mara (led by Amber Press) taking out Supreme Devon Champion and Not-A-Lot Valentina (led by Lucy Kelly) taking out Reserve Champion.
A big thank you to all staff and students who attended and helped behind the scenes.
We eagerly await the Armidale (6-7 March) and Walcha (13-14 March) shows. Keep an eye on the @oconnorarmidale Instagram for photos and videos from the shows!
