We are thrilled to introduce Katherine Hymer, an exceptionally talented and dedicated music educator. With a passion for music and a commitment to nurturing students' growth, Katherine offers a unique approach to teaching that places 'learning' at the forefront of her lessons.

 

Katherine's teaching philosophy is centered on understanding her students' individual goals and tailoring her instruction to suit their specific learning styles. Her holistic approach to lesson preparation fosters not only technical proficiency but also a deep appreciation for the art of music, emphasizing musicality, listening skills, and performance.

 

As an alumnus of the renowned Conservatorium of Music at The University of Melbourne, Katherine brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. She holds a Diploma in Music (Practical) with a specialization in classical piano, providing a strong foundation for her teaching. Beyond her formal education, Katherine's musical journey has taken her through jazz ensembles, live bands within Melbourne's vibrant music scene, and various session work. Her talents extend to songwriting and composition, enabling her to create tailored lessons that align with each student's unique learning objectives.

 

Katherine's teaching experience dates back to 2013, where she has been providing both in-person and online lessons for piano and singing. Her expertise spans a wide range of student levels, from beginners to intermediates and advanced players, with students ranging in age from 5 to senior adults. A notable aspect of Katherine's instruction is her proficiency in teaching both piano and singing, allowing students to explore the rich connection between these two musical domains.

 

Katherine has meticulously designed curriculums to support students in their diverse musical aspirations. Her offerings include comprehensive guidance for AMEB exams, beginner-level piano instruction, support for students pursuing VCE and IB music programs, theoretical foundations, classical and contemporary music, jazz, composition, and songwriting.
