Yandelora Athletics Carnival

On the last week of term 4, Thursday 21st September, Support Unit students volunteered their time to help run the Yandelora School Athletics Carnival at Narellan Sports Hub. Students assisted in the running of the event by setting up, encouraging Yandelora students to participate, demonstrating what to do and packing up. All Yandelora staff and community members were grateful for the support these students provided on the day. Thank you to Logan, Elliot, Oliver, Tiara and Jesse for supporting our local community.

Warragamba Dam Excursion

The Support Faculty visited Warragamba Dam at the end of last term.  Our students and staff were blown away with the majesty of the facility.  The education centre shared a great deal of information about the history and the structure of the dam along with factors that impact the quality of the water in the dam.  We learnt how they use technology to access the cleanest parts of the water stored in order to service the Sydney community with this precious resource.  We were lucky enough to get access to some of the areas that haven't been open to the public for a few years.  Our day was punctuated with the amazing views from the viewing deck, the wall walk and a spooky stroll through the belly of the wall!   The excursion showed  students how their Geography work this term around water in the world and managing water resources is managed in real life. All students had a great day and found the information interesting and informative. Some of our students have already enquired about the possibility of working at the facility!

Work Studies

Year 11 and 12 would like to thank our work studies guest speakers. First we heard about being a tradie and developing the skills to be promoted from Scott Sherrard the Branch Manager of Spannenberg and Sons Builders in Campbelltown. And, we heard from Megan Deves the owner of Hair and Beauty Temptations at Mount Annan about interviewing and initiative in the workplace. It was great to give the students some real world, up to date information about the world of work.
