It was great to come back to work last week after 6 weeks of leave. During my time off, I managed to kick back in Malaysia and Japan. Whilst in Japan, I visited my wife’s family for the first time in 5 years. It really was great to reconnect and remind myself of what truly is important in our lives. I would like to thank Mrs. Sharon Lomas for steering the ship in my absence. She did a fabulous job and the school ran smoothly. She was obviously well supported by her right-hand woman, Mrs. Megan Franklyn. Thank you to our wonderful school leadership and staff!
Although I left with high expectations of a full recovery, that didn’t quite happen, but I am more than happy with the improvements I gained over that period. We have an exciting term coming at full speed. My priority this term will be predominantly focused on trying to get the teaching and learning spaces up and running for the beginning of next year after the handover of our new gym. These new learning spaces should be exciting. We will invite our community through the new gym once we take possession, which we hope will be before the end of the year.
Building Update - Here for the students
As handover draws closer, which I hope will be at the end of November or there a-bouts, there is so much work to do in the old hall and the new hall to make them functioning spaces for 2024. We hold little hope that there will be any contingency funds available to complete the new gym, so we need to be creative with our funds. The attached pictures are the first of the internal spaces, as I am tired of waiting for the VSBA to communicate with the community, which they promised they would do back in June.
Workforce planning - Lead the way
Further appointments were made last Friday. We welcome Tess Sultana (graduate), Gerard Parker (from Doherty’s Creek P-9) and Emily Lestrange (from Maffra Primary School). Additionally, we have 1 shared role being made available next week which will be filled by existing part time staff. We now have a complete staff profile for 2024, unless there is any further movement in the coming weeks. Please remember that we place staff, first and foremost, in year levels based on the belief that each staff member (skills, attributes and strengths) is right for that specific cohort of children.
