Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 4! The year is certainly going quickly if the last two weeks are any indication and there is still so much to do as we continue to learn and grow together. It is great to see our students showing up with a positive 'can do' attitude each day as they embark on their learning for the rest of the year.

Kindergarten Transition Program - 2024

Congratulations to our 2024 Kindergarten class who completed a very successful transition program last Tuesday. Thank you to all the families and friends who were able to join us for their Graduation Assembly where the children performed 'The Butterfly Song' in front of our school community. The assembly concluded with the students receiving a special certificate to mark their 'graduation' from the program as well as a wonderful St Joey's gift bag containing an array of helpful items to assist them in preparation for next year.

Starting 'big' school is such a special time for children and their parents. We find that our transition program is extremely successful as it provides a great opportunity for the children to become familiar to the school setting, the teachers and their peers.  A huge thank you to Miss George, Mrs Bearman and Mrs Wadwell for facilitating the program for our newest students and their families. Please don't hesitate to contact the school office if you have any questions.

We look forward to welcoming the children to school in 2024 as they commence their education at St Joseph's Primary School.

St Joseph's Colour Run 2023

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a fabulous day had by one and all at our inaugural St Joseph's Colour Run held at Pirates Rugby Park on Friday 20th October.  It was a fantastic event  and the weather did not disappoint, providing a warm sunny day for all in attendance. The students definitely had a great time, just watching their faces indicated to all of us the amount of fun they were having (and the parents too) as they navigated the watery course and other obstacles. Of course it would be remiss of us not to congratulate the students and thank the teachers who took part in the 'Slime a Teacher' part of the day. We are absolutely sure that the teachers really, really enjoyed being slimed!

A massive thank you to our amazing Parents & Friends Association for their tireless efforts and planning to provide such a unique and wonderful experience for every student in our school, they definitely appreciated the awesome day that was organised for them. Thank you to everyone who has undertaken this fundraising opportunity for our school.  At this stage we have raised $18,405.74 which is an outstanding achievement. The funds raised will go towards the installation of new soft fall under the playground equipment. Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success, it was truly a marvellous event for our school community.

School Survey

The student, parent and staff satisfaction survey results arrived last week. The responses by our school community were extremely positive and affirming for all of us and we appreciate your feedback.

As a Catholic school, we have a strong focus on developing our faith, on improving learning outcomes and on building community with our families, so we were particularly pleased to read comments such as:

  • I enjoy the community spirit and that all the teachers and students know and look out for each other.
  • The school is committed to providing the highest level of education and support to students.
  • The community of St Joseph's is amazing. There's a level of care and love that impresses me constantly.
  • I love the small classes and stages. Children are pushed to strive higher with their learning and the attention the teachers put on individual learning programs for each child is so important.

World Teachers' Day

World Teachers’ Day is a day set aside to recognise the more than 170,000 primary, secondary and early childhood teachers who work in NSW.  This year, World Teachers' Day was held last Friday 27th October and was celebrated at St Joseph's during morning tea with some delicious cupcakes. Happy World Teachers' Day to our amazing staff who go above and beyond every day to ensure our students are supported, valued and cared for in their learning journey. We are blessed to have such a dedicated and professional team of educators at St Joseph's.

Special thanks to the Tamworth Base Hospital Theatre Staff for the surprise delivery of donuts and muffins for the staff to enjoy on World Teachers' Day.  The special treats were thoroughly enjoyed and your kind words and generosity appreciated by all of us.

Have a great week.
