It's been great to hear the positive conversations in Student Support Group (SSG) meetings. Staff and parents/carers have shared learning experiences that students have engaged in throughout second semester, and identified areas of learning growth and achievements.
It's been rewarding to have more student voice during SSG meetings, with student work being presented; secondary students developed career action plans which were showcased. Some students participated in their SSG meeting who took pride in sharing their own work to parents and carers. Over the next couple of years, we will be working towards involving students more in these meetings, to further strengthen their voice and recognise their growth and efforts.
A reminder that on Wednesday 6 December, from 5 to 7pm we will hold our Showcase and Shine whole school community event. We encourage all Croydon SDS families and carers to save the date to attend, to join the celebrations of student growth and the great year that it has been. Student work will be on display and there will be a variety of activities for students and their siblings, parents and carers to participate in.
This week Judith and I met with the VSBA and our architects, Minx. We have been informed that they are close to appointing a contractor for our new building project. They are working through and finalising some costings, in particular looking at our tender options, (10 percent of project that may not be built to allow for contingency costs).
We hope to be able to announce the contactor soon, let you know of the building start date, and show you our building designs.
Judith and I recently completed our White Card training. This best prepares us to enter the construction site if and when required.
