Sickbay/First Aid

Sick Bay Notification

Hello everyone,

It has been a busy 5 weeks as I settle into the first aid space and am getting to know all the faces that visit me in sickbay, some a little more regular than others, but that's okay. The space is there for students to utilise when feeling unwell, injured or just need a little extra tlc.

When we get a visit in sickbay, we enter this into our online incident report system. This allows us to document the time, injury, cause, and first aid treatment in one place. In addition to this we are then able to send home notifications directly to the parent portal. This means no more paper slips when students come and require their Inhalers. In this notification you should receive the time, number of puffs administered, time student returned to class and any other relevant information. This notification should appear as a flag at the top of your device through the parent/ guardian portal.

Please note this will not be used for more serious incidents/ injuries. In the case of a major illness or illness we will still make contact via the phone. Additionally, if there is any injury involving the neck, or head we will make curtesy calls home just to be extra vigilant.

Kind Regards,

Becca

Fun fact for the week:

Did you know that when we're born there are 270 bones within the human body. However, by the time we're adults there is only 206 bones. So, what happens to the other bones? Well, they fuse together as we grow and leave us with a stronger, more stable skeleton.
