Principal's Report

Rohan Cooper

Welcome to our second newsletter of this term, as week 3 draws to its conclusion. Our students have settled-in to the term seamlessly and I have been pleased in monitoring their learning and wellbeing that they are meeting the expected benchmarks for this time of the year. I continue to have students visit my office with learning they are proud of and sharing this remains one of my favourite parts of my job.

I would like to again acknowledge the conflict occurring in the Middle East and the impact that this will be having on students, staff and families. We continue to be updated on the impact of this locally by the Department. If our students, staff or families have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. As you know, my door is always open.

Connecting as a community is always important and at our Father’s Day Breakfast last term, I raised the concept of starting a ‘CSPS Dad’s Group’. My hope is that this group will connect regularly on a social basis, forming new friendships and cementing existing ones. I have arranged our first get-together for next week:

Date: Wednesday 25th October

Time: 7:00pm

Venue: The Camden Town Hotel (414 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield South)

Our class representatives have shared this information via the class ‘WhatsApp’ groups; please RSVP so I can confirm our booking. I look forward to seeing as many of our Dad’s there as possible!

On a similar note, and in recognition of one of our Dad’s, Gary Baum, who tragically passed away earlier this year, I have started a CSPS Team for the 2XU Wellness Run on Sunday 3rd December. Starting and finishing at Catani Gardens in St Kilda, entrants can run (or walk, of course) the 5km, 10km or 21.1km (half-marathon) course. There is also a 1km junior course that our students can enter. Every dollar raised helps to fund Beyond Blue’s 24/7 support services and again, I hope to see as many of you there on the day as possible (I’ll be running the 10km and looking for a personal best time!).

If you would like to join our team at this event, please click on the link here or search the team name ‘CSPS’.

Our class placement process is already underway, with the parent request process having been shared both via our last newsletter and via a direct Compass email last week. I have attached the article again later in this newsletter; note the eligibility criteria and the firm cut-off date of close-of-business Monday 23rd October.

I again ask if any families have not informed the school of the intent for their child/ren to leave the school, please contact the office via email (link here) as soon as possible.

This term is a busy one, with camps for Years 3 and 6, the ‘Extended Day’ program for Year 2, our colour-run and end-of-year picnic, as well as our Prep Orientation getting underway imminently. Preparations for our ‘Bring Your Own Device’ Program, (Chromebooks for students in Years 4 to 6) will also continue, with information about purchasing these for current Year 3 students (entering Year 4 next year), on the way in coming weeks. Please stay tuned to the Newsletter and Compass for all school communications.

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
