Thank you to everybody who has warmly welcomed me back after several weeks of leave. I am grateful to the Board and to Lutheran Education Australia for enabling my sabbatical leave experience following the footsteps of Martin Luther and his contemporaries through Germany. A particular thank you to Jason Fay for stepping into the Acting Principal role in my absence.
I am pleased to share with you that we have appointed Graham Buxton to our Deputy Principal: Teaching and Learning position to commence in 2024.
Graham is currently in the role of Primary School Learning Mentor at Concordia College – St John’s Campus. He has also served in other Lutheran and independents schools in roles such as Director of Teaching and Learning, PYP and Curriculum Coordinator, and in Acting Deputy roles.
Through our recruitment process, Graham impressed the panel with his genuine care for children, his experience in the various challenges of differing stages of primary school years, and his knowledge and expertise in inquiry learning. We believe he will be a wonderful fit for St Paul Lutheran School.
Please join me in celebrating this appointment for our school and we look forward to welcoming Graham next year.
This year, we will farewell a long-serving board member, Dennis Clark. Dennis has served our community in this voluntary role for seven years, whilst also volunteering with student support roles over many years. Thank you Dennis, for your faithful service.
From 2024, we will have a casual vacancy for a two-year term on the Board. We are specifically interested in nominations from parents of the school with any of the following skills backgrounds: marketing, community engagement, finance, law, governance, or project management. If you are interested, please don’t hesitate to contact me: lmattner@stpaulba.sa.edu.au. Alternatively, you can contact our Board Chair, Merryn Ruwoldt: boardchair@stpaulba.sa.edu.au. St Paul owes its past, present and future success to our generous Board Members and we would love you to consider being part of the team.
