Around the Houses

Gandhi House

Nothing quite captures the spirit of Australian school life like some time out in the sun, complemented by the wafting aroma of a sausage sizzle. Recently, the students of Gandhi House had the pleasure of experiencing just that, as we all headed to Wellington Square.

The sun was out in full splendour, casting a golden glow over the vast green expanses of the square. It was an inviting setting for students to kick back, relax, and take a breather from their academic pursuits. And what better way to relish the sunshine than with a classic sausage sizzle? The tantalising smell of sausages grilling wafted through the air, promising a delightful treat for everyone.

While some students queued up eagerly for their sausages, others took the opportunity to socialise or shoot some hoops on the nearby basketball courts. Our time together provided a relaxed atmosphere where students could catch up with friends, share laughs, and create lasting memories through their shared experiences of everything that makes Gandhi the very best House!

Lincoln House

This week in Extended PCG our Lincoln PCG’s took the opportunity to choose their activities and enjoy a final PCG activity for the year before we start preparing for Sync Swim.

PCG activities ranged from watching movies to heading out for pizza together, and it was a lovely time spent reflecting on a year spent together as a PCG.

In Week 6, we will begin Sync Swim rehearsals for our annual competition that will be held at the Interhouse Swimming Carnival early next year. I would like to thank the Lincoln students who have helped choreographed as part of the team, especially the Year 11s who will be on preparing for their Semester Two Examinations during our first rehearsal.

As we prepare for the end of the year, I would like to encourage any students with House tokens to place them in the Lincoln jar before they are counted in Week 9. I would also love to hear from any Lincoln Legends or St George’s Superstars, so please feel free to drop me a message any time if there has been something particularly exiting that has happened outside of School that we could add to the Lincoln Board or future Dragon articles.

Mandela House

Mandela House have had an action-packed fortnight of activities, that left us with some smiles and laughs. Students engaged in a variety of activities across the school, including a Dodgeball Competition on the rooftop, a challenging Trivia Game Show on Level 3, and a chance to relax and chill while enjoying some refreshing icy poles on the roof.

Last week, we started the day with a delicious Milo Morning. Students gathered to enjoy a free Milo and biscuits, boosting our House Spirit, and fostering the sense of belonging that defines Mandela House. It was a fantastic way to begin the day, with smiles all around.

Looking ahead, we have our upcoming House Week in Week 8 – something to look forward to.

Lastly, we extend our best wishes to all Year 10s and 11s as they embark on their upcoming exams. Remember, every token counts, and together, we can win the House Cup. Bring in those tokens, Mandela – we’ve got this!
