OLNA Round One  - Year 9s

A heartfelt thank you to our Year 9 students who participated in the first round of OLNA over the past two weeks. It was wonderful to see the students giving their very best in these important assessments. Results will be shared with students and families in early February 2024.

Year 10 and 11 Examinations

Our Year 10 students will soon be undertaking their Semester Two examinations from Tuesday 21 November to Friday 24 November (see attached). Our examination arrangements will be much the same as in Semester One, with examinations hosted at CQU (10 William Street, Perth), and students only required to attend at the time of their scheduled exams.

Please note that Monday 20 November is a compulsory school day for all Year 10 students prior to the examination period starting. This day will provide students with revision opportunities in class before examinations begin. Given the revision time available to our Year 10s within their respective examination schedule all absences on this day will require formal notification to the Principal.

It is important to note that for our Year 10 students who have nominated to study a Year 11 course that requires a prerequisite grade, these exams are critical. They must work towards these prerequisite grades to assist in making informed pathway choices for Years 11 and 12.

Please also find below our Year 11 ATAR examination timetable that will run from Wednesday 15 November to Friday 24 November. Students are reminded that they should be incorporating intentional study time into their daily routine for these important assessments.

2024 Elective Choices

Our Year 8 and 9 students will soon receive a digital elective nomination form in Week 6 to select their preferences for Electives in 2024. Students in Years 9 and 10 at St George's study two electives, with choices for either semester-long or year-long electives. Further information regarding the suite of offerings will be shared with students and families via Direqt message.

2024 Subject Selection

With the 2024 timetable nearing completion, all Year 10 students will be advised of the final Year 11 guidelines and subject selection choices throughout Week 6. During this time, students will participate in a one-to-one meeting with a member of the Subject Selection Team, where they will receive a confirmation form that details their final courses of study and any necessary changes to be made. Further details will be shared with our Year 10 families via Direqt message.

2024 Year 7 - 12 Booklists

Booklists will be provided to families via Direqt message on Friday 17 November (Week 6). Campion Education continues to be the provider of both digital and physical educational resources for St George's for the 2024 academic school year.

2024 Murdoch FlexiTrack High

Applications for the 2024 Murdoch FlexiTrack High program are now open to our current Year 11 families. This program allows a Year 12 student to substitute one of their courses of study with FlexiTrack. Upon successful completion of this program, a student is awarded the equivalent of an ATAR of 70.00, which can be used to apply to an undergraduate degree at Murdoch University. To apply for this course, a student must have received at least a D Grade in Year 11 Semester 1 ATAR English or at least a B Grade in Year 11 Semester 1 APEx English.

FlexiTrack High is designed to help students develop the skills necessary to succeed at university. Murdoch University collaborates with St George's to provide a structured and supportive learning environment for students seeking an alternative to the ATAR pathway into university. FlexiTrack High utilizes the most effective evidence-based teaching and learning approaches. The program is delivered as a blended model, utilising both online independent study and dedicated class time at each partner school. Murdoch tutors guide and assess the student learning experience and support teacher facilitators at participating schools. As such, students need to have a proven capacity for independent work and consistent meeting of assessment deadlines.

Please note that the deadline set by Murdoch University for applications is Friday, December 8. Due to university timelines, no late applications will be accepted. To apply to participate in this exciting program, please complete the following application form: https://www.murdoch.edu.au/course/enabling/n1101
