Wellbeing

Mr. John Ryan - Deputy Principal

Planning for 2024 is underway. The College is preparing to deliver the best possible curriculum to support the development of personal and social capabilities. In order to ensure effective child safety practices are established within the College, students need to achieve personal learning growth and experience success, through exposure to high-quality teaching practices within safe and inclusive environments.

The College upholds the primacy of the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, empowering families, children, young people, and staff to have a voice and raise concerns, whilst implementing rigorous risk-management and employment practices. Our mission is to teach positive mental health strategies to help people become happier and more resilient and have agency about their mental health.

Currently, the College is investigating partnerships with outside agencies to help work with staff, students, and parents. The research is clear; the more positive emotion you experience, the more resilient you will be. For that reason, the College hopes to focus on three key pillars proven to cultivate positive emotion; Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (GEM). Positive mental health in the classroom, staffroom, and the wider community helps young people thrive emotionally.  More information will be provided within the ensuing newsletters, about which chosen partnership the College will engage with.

New Uniform

This week I visited the Panthers clothing store in Wonthaggi and spoke to Manager David Panther. David showed me all the Mary MacKillop Catholic Regioanl College stock available. In particular, the Girls’ activewear and new summer shorts are available. These items are navy blue in colour and look very smart. All sizes are available.

Additionally, new sports shorts for both boys and girls are in stock. These shorts are also navy blue and have the added feature of a zip pocket. The new tracksuit bottoms are also ready. I encourage all parents to visit the Leongatha or Wonthaggi stores and purchase these new items.
