Dear Parents and Carers
Grandparents and Great People Day is tomorrow. We look forward to warmly welcoming all grandparents, great people and parents. Those students unable to have a grandparent visit are welcome to invite another great person in their lives. This is one of our biggest events of the year and we are all excited. Please ensure the following information is passed on to visiting grandparents or great people.
Timetable:
- 11:30am: Outdoor Liturgy
- 12:15pm: Classroom visits
- 1:00pm: Grandparents are invited to a picnic lunch. Bring along lunch and treats for lunch with the grandchildren. You might like to bring a picnic chair and/or blamket as well.
- 1:45pm Students may go home:
- with a parent if they are on the school site.
- with a grandparent if written permission from a parent has been provided to the school office via email before 11:00am tomorrow.
- students need to be signed out with the class teacher who will be available on the concrete area.
- 2:55pm: Normal dismissal time for student remaining at school
Entry into the school
The Park Road hall gate and the basketball court gates will be open from 11:20am.
Parking
Please be considerate of our neighbours by not parking across driveways. Please adhere to all road signage regarding parking.
Book Fair
The bookfair will be open for purchases from 12:15pm so please feel free to visit and enjoy the books.
Picnic
Grandparents and parents are invited to join a picnic with your children. Bring along your food and a chair or picnic blanket. Please avoid sharing any food with other students as we have a no food sharing policy.
Toilets
All toilets will be marked as ‘Adults only’ or ‘Students only’. This is an important part of our child protection management.
Weather
Should it be raining a message will be sent out via Compass should we need to cancel the day or make adjustments to the timetable.
We look forward to a wonderful day of celebrating grandparents and student learning tomorrow.
Formation of Classes for 2024
The process for forming classes for 2024 will soon begin. Teachers have a very good understanding of their students, their learning, and their social and academic needs and strengths. They spend a great deal of time considering the placement of each student with grade partners.
Included with this newsletter is St Joseph’s formation of classes policy. Please take time to read the policy as it will provide you with an understanding of the process.
At times, there may be extenuating circumstances where parents may make a request regarding class placement.
It is not appropriate to make a request for your child to be with their friends or your preferred teacher. Teachers will ensure your child is placed with a friend.
All requests regarding a child’s placement should be in writing and addressed to the Principal by Friday 17 November.
Whilst parental requests are considered, there is never a guarantee that they will be granted. Please be aware that there may be circumstances surrounding requests that prevent them from being granted.
For all things at St Joseph's, we give thanks.

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?
Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards which are presented at the weekly assembly. When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.
Acknowledgement to Country
St Joseph's Bulli acknowledges and pays respect to the Dharawal people past and present, the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is built.
