Visual Arts

Stage 4 Visual Arts have been finalising their assessment tasks in recent weeks that were based on the theme 'fantasy'. Students completed a range of images using different mediums. 'Tree of Life' by Gustav Klimt's was one famous artwork they studied before being asked to complete their own version using patterns and gold.

Over the course of the year the students have produced a significant amount of artwork. Earlier this term they studied a unit of Aboriginal art, with a particular focus on the Gamilaroi style of using line work. Some students chose to create a piece using their family totem, others chose a native animal. The two pieces below were created by fellow students, Rakaia and Liam.

Another unit of work Stage 4 Visual Art students more recently explored was surrealism. The great Spanish artist, Giorgio de Chirico's surrealist cityscapes of Catalonia was a key focus for both their theory and practical class components. Students learnt how to draw using one point perspective and used a range of lead pencil drawing techniques to produce their own surrealism style cityscape.
