I like the lizards because the skinks (Blue tongue lizards) and Central Bearded Dragons are quite gentle. I feed the Blue Tongues peas and mushy dog biscuits. I think they like to eat their food.

The Boyd’s Forest Dragons drink from a water spray as it is just like the rain. We’ve also got Water Dragons and Stick Insects.

I like having the lizards here mostly because due to the fact that they have a big impact on happiness for other kids and for people to get used to reptiles overall. Also, the animals enjoy the attention and care they get and the help we bring to them and the joy they bring to the community and school. My favourites are the Blue Tongues because we’ve had them since babies and raised them and the Water Dragons because of the way they act in their enclosure.

As a student myself at Mirboo North Secondary College, it is a privilege to be able to hang around these wonderful reptiles and feed them, as well as learn all about them, thanks to Ms. Poland and Keith, who have been there every lunch or recess just for us kids to learn about these wonderful animals. They have created a safe and educational environment where we can observe and interact with the reptiles. This hands-on experience has deepened our understanding and appreciation for these fascinating creatures. Due to the new animals coming, we would love to see more people show up to where the reptiles are and help look after them and interact with them. Not only will this provide a better experience for the animals, but it will also create an educational and engaging environment for visitors. By actively participating in their care and learning about their unique behaviours, individuals can develop a deeper appreciation for these fascinating creatures and contribute to their overall well-being.

Some MNPS Grade 6s meet the lizards and stick insects.

Year 7 Food Technology

7A - 18th October – Minestrone Soup

Skye – I’ve never made that type of soup before. It has pasta in it, that was the weird part. I didn’t like it. The flavour of the sauce was yuk.

Nic – I hadn’t made minestrone soup before. I made it with Oscar. It was okay. The bread was the best part.

Lily – It was pretty good, it wasn’t the best soup I’ve had but the recipe was easy to follow.

7B – 25th October – Mac & Cheese

Elli – It was interesting and tasty. The sauce needed more flour to thicken it. I think I like the packet mac and cheese better.

Sadie – It was good, however it needed more cheese and flavouring.

Ella – It was easy to make. I could only really taste the salt and pepper and it needed more cheese.

Sophia – It needed to be a bit more creamy.

7C – 1st November – Fairy Cakes.

Libby and Emmeline – We messed up a little, so we had to re add the flour. We made fairy cakes. “Tastes like a normal cupcake,” Libby says, and Emmeline said, “It was sugary.”

Linc – Tastes alright. Enjoyed making them prefer them without the cream and jam.
