Year 8 & 9 News
Year 8 & 9 Curious Careers Incursion
Tyson Day from curious careers visited year 8 and 9 students on Friday 18th October. Students were able to understand some of the skills and attributes they have under the surface and why being curious is vital to developing a meaningful career. Students learnt about the ROAR framework and how this can support them in their high school journey.
Tyson Day will be visiting our year 9 students for an Applying for Work incursion on November 20th where students will understand how to apply for casual employment and write a resume that captures their skills.
Truganina College prepares students for the next phase of their life by providing opportunities to learn about different careers. We hope these incursions will inspire students and broaden their understanding of career opportunities.
Year 9 Careers Barbering
Year 9 Students had the opportunity to be involved in a Careers Exhibition with Director’s Cut Studio, a local Barber Business ran by Kristian. The barbers gave our Year 9 students career advice and what it takes to be a barber and by the barbers demonstrating a beard cut on Mr Suarez. Students answered questions and multiple prizes were given out for students to develop their own skills in the near future. Well done to BJ, Selomon, Raef, Simon and Bassima for being involved in the incursion and giving some great answers throughout.
Year 9 Gaming Incursion
Multiple students from Mr Suarez’s Year 9 Games Club were involved in an incursion over Webex with professionals in the Gaming industry. This involved speakers who were streamers, production managers, eSports competitors, students and career pathway teachers. Students were given different pathways for their future involving Gaming and behind the of an eSports Competition. Thank you to Zaman, Danae, Lennox, Keerathdeep, Aayan, Raef, Simon, Lance, Sharif and Faud for their positivity and participation throughout.
Year 9 Hairdressing Incursion
Year 9 students are learning about Careers and Pathways in term 4. As well as a variety of lessons in class taught by the year 9 tech lit teachers, our year 9s have had the opportunity to learn about careers from guest speakers!
On Monday the 21st of October, our year 9 students had the opportunity to learn from a hairdresser who provided students who expressed interest with a hands-on opportunity to explore the hairdressing profession, learn about the skills., creativity and career pathways within the industry.
