Description/Educative Purpose:

Narrative Writing and Fairy Tales Excursion

In Term 3, we focused on narrative writing, and this excursion provided a meaningful extension of our learning. It directly linked to our discussions about characters, events, and the fairy tales we have read and written throughout the year. Students explored key narrative elements—characters, settings, and events—through interactive exhibits at Fairy Park, reinforcing their understanding of these features in a fun and engaging way.

Speaking and Listening Development

The excursion offered rich opportunities for speaking and listening. Students engaged in meaningful oral interactions, describing what they saw, sharing ideas, and collaborating with peers in positive ways. They practised using previously introduced vocabulary and were exposed to new terms in the context of the fairy tales. Listening to the interactive exhibits also deepened their understanding of narrative structure, helping them make meaningful connections with our writing models back in the classroom.

Wellbeing and Collaborative Learning

Beyond literacy learning, the day also highlighted the importance of spending time outdoors for physical and emotional wellbeing. The students enjoyed starting the day with a collaborative picnic, strengthening friendships and social skills. Running, playing, and exploring the park sparked creativity and curiosity, while their thoughtful questions and problem-solving throughout the day demonstrated their ability to engage deeply with their surroundings.

Overall, this excursion provided a memorable learning experience, combining narrative exploration with opportunities for personal and social growth.
