Get to know Stefan & Livia
What is your role in the College? I am the proud homeroom teacher of 8G (big shout out to them) and I also teach English and Humanities in Year 8 as well as the Year 9 Outdoor Education elective.
What is your favourite colour? My favourite colours are blue and yellow. Blue because it represents both sporting teams that I follow which are North Melbourne Football Club (AFL) and FC Barcelona and yellow because it represents happiness and hope.
What is your favourite number and why? My favourite number is 3 because in some mythologies it represents the beginning, the middle and the end of time.
What is your favourite book and why? My favourite book is On The Trail of Genghis Khan written by Tim Cope where he embarks on a journey to travel on horseback across the entire length of the Eurasian steppe, from Karakorum, the ancient capital of Mongolia, through Kazakhstan, Russia, Crimea and the Ukraine to the Danube River in Hungary. This book has inspired me to travel, to hike and to see different parts of the world.
What is your favourite food? My favourite food to eat is Bosnian and Turkish cuisine specifically a traditional adana kebab as well as Bosnian cevapi.
What do you like most about teaching and learning? I love working with our future generation of leaders and having the ability to inspire and guide our students to achieve their goals and ambitions. As teachers we are forever learning and finding ways to improve our knowledge and pedagogy, and this motivates me to do better every day and ultimately become a better teacher and person.
What is your role in the College? I am a Year 1 classroom teacher.
What is your favourite colour? My favourite colour is green.
What is your favourite number and why? My favourite number is 18 because it is my birth date.
What is your favourite book and why? My favourite book is George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. I love this story because it’s a delightful blend of humour and creativity that captures the imagination of young readers. The book encourages children to think outside the box and embrace their creativity, showing that problem-solving can be fun and imaginative. Plus, Dahl's playful writing style keeps the story engaging, making it a joy to read and share with my students!
What is your favourite food? My favourite food is woodfired pizza.
What do you like most about teaching and learning? What I like most about teaching and learning is that every day feels like an exciting adventure! It’s like being a guide on a treasure hunt, helping my students discover new ideas and skills along the way. I love watching their eyes light up when they make connections or solve a tricky problem—it’s like finding hidden gems!
