Community Garden

The Gap State High School's Community Garden is now in full bloom, thanks to the tireless efforts of students and staff who have transformed the area into a vibrant, green space. This garden is not only a source of fresh produce but a growing hub of environmental awareness and education within the school community.

On Wednesday three students presented the Community Garden project to the Lord Mayor’s Young Environmental Leaders Network. Over the last few weeks these students attended specialised workshops designed to foster leadership skills, sustainability knowledge, and practical environmental action. The presentation was attended by dignitaries, including Brisbane's Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner, and local councillor, Steve Toomey. The showcase provided the students with a platform to highlight their work and the garden's role in promoting eco-friendly initiatives at The Gap SHS.

The garden has become a space for hands-on learning, environmental stewardship, and collaboration.

The community garden is currently used by PEAK and Science in Practice students for classroom activities, with the Environmental Club and Launch students working tirelessly on the garden’s technology, including a self-watering system. We can’t wait to see it all come together when it’s completed!
