Principal's Report

World Teachers Day Thanks

Last Friday was World Teachers Day, and the staff and I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you for the thoughtful and delicious morning tea, which parents very kindly provided, to celebrate the day. As a staff we were incredibly grateful for the time that you took out of your busy schedule to plan, prepare and deliver this feast.

Thank you so much for surprising us with the delicious spread on Friday!

We all felt very appreciated, treated, and grateful. Special thanks for the thought and effort that went into the dietary catering too (shoutout to whoever made that amazing vegan spanakopita!). We love teaching our students. We love it even more when our relationship with you as the parents is as positive as it is.

What a delightful surprise to walk into the staffroom on Friday, World Teachers’ Day to find the tables ladened with a delicious morning tea. Not just any morning tea but one of homemade jam lamingtons, gooey chocolate brownies and pineapple upside down cake, to name a few.

This amazing gesture was prepared by our parents. We as a staff are so appreciative of the effort and thought that was put into this. We enjoyed every mouthful!

We can only say ‘Thank You’ to all the parents and students who baked, organised, arranged flowers and generally helped out.

We are so proud to be teachers and part of our school community here at Fairfield Primary School.

Teaching is a profession that has a significant influence on everyone at some point in their lives. Every day that a teacher arrives for work, they are teaching, modelling and influencing the young people they are with. Every day, teachers show care for their students at FPS – this might be by supporting them during difficult times, praising them after success, navigating challenges together, having a joke together, creating goals together.

There are many small moments that I take pride in – seeing teachers and students chatting incidentally; sharing common interests; playing, dancing and singing together. These strong relationships mean that the students can take risks, give things their best shot, and if things go wrong, well, that’s okay.

Everyday I am grateful for all that the teachers at FPS do for the students – their care, compassion, professionalism and fun. Thank you teachers, and thank you once again to the parents for your acknowledgement of the teachers’ work last Friday.

Photographing Students Policy

One of the policies that has recently been updated and approved is our Photographing, Filming & Recording Students’ Policy. Our policy subcommittee discussed the the subject of community members taking photos at school events, and in line with Department of Education policy, we request that parents/carers, students and invited guests who photograph, film or record school activities only do so for their own personal use and do not publish the images in any form, including on social media, including WhatsApp, without the prior consent of persons whose children also appear in the images.
