Evidence Based Learning Journey

Around six years ago, Holy Name embarked on an Evidence Based Learning journey along with three other schools in the Northern Region, with an aspiration to develop strong, confident and successful learners in both our students and our teachers.

This collective of schools engaged the consultancy work of Helen Butler from "Partners in Learning" to support us in understanding what the best and most current research says about the implementation of highly effective educational improvement. We have had numerous school closure days, planning meetings and leadership meetings over the last few years and have learnt and implemented many exciting and practical things along the way.

Within our school in particular we have introduced the Learning Pit, focused Learning Dispositions, embedded the use of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria, introduced Instructional Coaching and effective models for Facilitated Planning, and explored effective Feedback.

Although this work will continue within our own school contexts, our EBL Networks as a collective came to an end this week. We would like to thank all the schools for allowing us to go on this journey with them, and Helen in particular for guiding us through this work.

Stay turned for more exciting learning to come!
