Staff Spotlight – Jess Barber

How long have you worked at Heathmont College? 

I have worked at Heathmont College since March of 2022.

What is your role at the school?

Canteen Manager (basically I just make coffee and food all day long with some ordering and paperwork)

What would you sing at karaoke night?

I would sing either All Star by Smash Mouth OR 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton… hmm hard choice. 

What book/TV series/podcast are you right into at the moment?

I’m rewatching Gossip girl for the 3rd time and have just started supernatural with my partner (we are watching for the first time) and I love a bit of drama so the cancelled podcast is my favourite 😂

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I just love seeing everybody at school every day I feel like I’m friends with so many of you guys now and I want you to know that the canteen is a safe space & I do feel like we have created that so I would say seeing you guys happy in the canteen is the most rewarding part. 

What was your favourite subject at school? 

Interestingly it was Maths the interesting part is that I’m actually horrible at maths.. the reason it was my favourite was because of the amazing teacher I had in that class. (Let’s be honest though lunch is the best “subject”)
