Years F & 1

I was super impressed with the students hard work for the Fleece and Flower Show. Seeing the finished pieces on display looked amazing. I hope you all had a chance to read through some of the work.

During art, we have been working with textiles. Students drew a snake on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. Once they cut it out we got some wool and we wrapped it around the snake making sure they kept the wool close together so we couldn't see the cardboard underneath. They have been working hard to make them quite colourful!

We had another foundation transition morning and it was a lovely morning. With the 3-6's being on camp we were able to have next year's foundation and year 1 group in the classroom and it was a great opportunity for our new foundations to settle into the space. Their eagerness for school is amazing and they continued to slot in nicely. We completed a sounds write lesson, focusing on some handwriting using Peggy Lego, read the story Room on the Broom and they completed a sequencing activity and made their broom. It was a lovely morning and they enjoyed staying for recess.

The students this week had a go at completing a rollercoaster plot summary about the story 'The Detective Dog'. Students had to write down in the beginning the characters, setting and problem, in the middle a couple of events from the story and the end how the problem was solve. It was our first time doing this and the students did an incredible job. On Friday we had a look at making inferences where students had to use the picture and their knowledge to come to a decision. We will keep working on these two things over the coming weeks.
