Welcome to the Grade 5/6 News Page
In Reading, our students will continue with our whole class novel, Boy Overboard. Through the reading on this text, we will explore interesting vocabulary, sentence level structures and comprehension questions.
In Writing, students are enjoying the text 'The Wild Robot', and it great to see how they are emulating the styles and language used in this book. Over the coming weeks they will continue to build their ability to develop a science fiction character and build their own robot story.
In Mathematics, students are developing their ability to analyse data and have developed their own questions they wish to answer about our school and have been collecting data that might help them answer this. They will now graph this data and look for patterns to answer their initial questions. We are also drawig and measuring angles and learning about angles in different shapes like triangles and quadrilaterals.
In STEAM, our Grade 5s are building their base Robotics, which they will then code to move around a set track. Our Grade 6s have started their Digital Design unit, and are creating small name tags that will be printed using our 3D printers.
In Topic, we will are examining economics and business concepts. In the next two weeks of term, we will look at packaging on food and other products and some of their rights and responsibilities as a consumer.
