Principal's Page

It only feels like yesterday that we started the year, and now we are quickly heading towards the end!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break and is ready for an exciting final term.

During my extended holiday, I was fortunate to explore Italy. From the bustling streets of Milan to the rolling hills of Tuscany, the beautiful islands of Sardinia and Sicily, the clifftops of Tropea, and the timeless sights of Rome. It was a magnificent experience.

My go-to coffee order became Espresso macchiaoto, and “grazie” rolled off the tongue naturally.

Every time I travel, I return with a renewed perspective on education. Experiencing new cultures reminds me of the importance of inquiry and curiosity, values we strive to foster in our students here at Great Ryrie.

Mathematics 2.0

Our teachers started Term 4 with an inspiring professional development day led by the highly respected mathematics education expert, Michael Ymer

With his wealth of experience, Michael guided us through the intricacies of the new Mathematics Curriculum 2.0, which will be introduced in all Victorian schools next year.

The day was filled with  collaborative discussions and valuable insights into how the updated curriculum will enhance student learning.

ICAS Results Announcement

We are pleased to be able to share the academic results from this year’s ICAS assessments. (Please see that ICAS page)

We are proud of everyone who participated.

Ongoing Improvements to Our School Facilities

It’s exciting to see the many upgrades happening around our school, enhancing access and creating a more welcoming environment for everyone.

Over the break, we had several improvements completed:

  • A new concrete pathway from the back gate.
  •  Automatic doors have been installed at the end of the 1/2 corridor and the Sports and Performance Hall, improving accessibility .
  • The replacement of our old, worn-out fence on the back boundary.
  • The new line markings in the Quadrangle.

New Tables and Chairs

Have you noticed the new tables and chairs?

They’ve added a fresh burst of colour to our learning space under the canopy of our beautiful trees, thanks to  our Junior School Council.

We are excited to share that this upgrade was made possible through the amazing efforts of our school community. Thanks to your generous contributions, this year’s fundraising initiatives funded the purchase of these tables and chairs so everyone can enjoy.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts this year.

We are grateful to Jackie for her efforts in overseeing these projects and ensuring continuous improvement across our school grounds.

A special thank you goes to Simon, our gardener, for his ongoing work around the grounds. His care and attention are evident in every corner of the school, helping to create a beautiful environment for students and staff.
